Everyone knows that history is cyclical. If people do not learn the lessons of history, the same cycles in their lives are repeated more and more often. Fashion and trends are also cyclical. We are used to this and take it for granted. In the end, life itself revolves between a morning cup of cappuccino (the larger cup the better) and an evening watching of a new series with a good rating on Netflix.
Perhaps in a metaphorical sense this reminds Groundhog Day, but in reality it is a pleasant feeling of stability. Some things must remain unshakable, incorruptible and imperishable, so that we do not lose touch with the world, respond to what is happening in it and creatively refract significant events, separating the wheat from the chaff.
But what if a new fashion season is also Groundhog Day? What if current fashion trends are largely a remix of tendencies the majority of designers has been playing with for the past two years? It sounds like the designers have reached their limit, not hiding the fact that they work on cycles and repetition.
Damn it! Even if life is a constant return to something, it is nevertheless not clear why in recent years in creativity there have been only remixes and something rethought or reinvented. After all, one rule applies in all cases: if cycles are repeated too often, it means someone does not learn a lesson from them. Or maybe the fashion industry just took a break?
Let’s analyze the trends for 2025 and try to understand whether they surprised us in a good way and whether they became a source of inspiration for us. For everyday life, there is a morning coffee and leisure time in the form of a TV show, right? Fashion should be a flight above everyday life.
